Hey everybody!
This week has been super good! but it has also been really super hard...
The bad part first so that the good will lighten the bad right?

So we have had an investigator that has been really super interested in the Gospel and has been awesome to teach. She came to church a week ago and talked about how she felt the spirit and how much she loved it... well, we went by on saturday and it turns out she has appendicitis and cant afford the operation.... so my companion and i have been fasting and praying to know what we can do to help her and the answer i got was just comfort surrounding the idea of her passing on.... i really didnt like that so we kept praying and thats still just what i felt, maybe Heavenly Father is planning to have her learn more about the Gospel in the next life...... we havent been able to check on her since, but we are going to go by later today and see if she is going to be okay.

To lighten up this email, we had a baptism this last weekend! and guess who baptized the woman!?!?? This guy!!

it was an amazing opportunity to be able to start the lessons with her, teach her all of them, and then to be able to baptize her on her Birthday of all days!
so a little back story to make this story even better. Almost all of her kids are members but she just hasnt wanted to learn the lessons... until the day that i got transfered here. She told us of a dream she had the night before she met me and it was a super cool experience to be able to hear it... so she said that in the dream she was sitting on her couch in her living room which faces the doorway (she lives in a hollowed out house... like it is just the cement skeleton of a home and only a couple of the bedrooms have windows and doors... so it is just a doorway into the living room.) but while she was sitting there, A white missionary walked in with an angel standing behind him.... she said she didnt see the other elder, but that the white missionary was me.... so as soon as she saw me, she told us that she wanted to be baptized and become a member... super cool story right?!?!?!  I guess Heavenly Father prepares everybody for the right time.

well, thats all i have for this week! I hope you all have a great week!

Also, I made pizza for her birthday party... the dough was normal dough, but tomato sauce, cheese, and all of the regular toppings are very hard to find.... so we made "african pizza"... we used ketchup, just a little mozzerella and then some fried veggies... to be honest, i think it was better than most pizzas you can find in the US (except RRG pizza, that stuff is the best...)

Hey eveyone! its been a long week here in Adenta! it has also been freakishly hot! I am more sunburned

than i was last week, but its all okay! we havent had much success when it comes to new investigators, but i did invite one of our investigators to get baptized and she said yes!! so we are baptizing her on her birthday! (April 21st) ... she also requested that we come to her birthday celebration and that i make pizzas for her... so im going to try and make some pizzas from scratch from whatever i can find here in Africa! that will be more than exciting right?? i think thats the biggest challenge i will have while on my mission... other than the sunburns of course... but its all for the progressing of the church so it is for the right reasons.... but other than that, i dont think i have any other stories! i have learned how to live off of powdered milk....
you just have to add enough sugar cubes so that you cant taste the fake milk... thats healthy right? well, if you guys have any questions for me, i would be happy to try and answer them, just start a new thread
😉 umm..... if you havent had a Ghanaian white pineapple,
you havent lived... they are literally my new favorite food... and its awesome because they sell them for super cheap.... like today i bought 4 giant ones for 10 cedi.... thats like two and a half dollars... so its amazing... i think thats all i have for this week, so until next week!

sunburns and smiles...

Hey guys! It has been an amazing week here in Ghana. On Tuesday, we left the MTC and went to our mission homes, since the MTC is technically in my mission, we walked down the road to the mission home. After that, the AP's took a few of us out to handout some Book of Mormons... I got paired up the the AP1 and we handed out 10 Books in just an hour and a half. The same guy kept talking about how i can take his spot of AP when he leaves in a few months ðŸ˜‚ but yeah! life is awesome here! I am in the Adenta 1st ward and my companion is a nigerian guy named Elder Eduok (pronounced Ed- Walk) he is super awesome and helps teach me how to be a better missionary, .... but we were able to have a baptism the first saturday i was in the area and it was awesome! i got to teach the sister a couple of the lessons before then, and then to be able to watch her be baptised was amazing!!
it was awesome to see her come out of the water with a bigger smile than i have ever seen on her face before. The Lord works miracles in peoples lives. well, i love it here in the Adenta first ward... everyone is very kind and we have had a lot of fun with all the kids.... (here in africa, they are a lot more relaxed about the rules about holding kids, so i get to play with little babies all the time) but i love it here.

Also, i learned that fasting in Africa is much harder than in Utah... I can go for a couple days without eating, but not drinking when you are constantly sweating? yeah, no.... i hit the point of not sweating so i only fasted for 20 hours before i started getting really light headed and super pale, so i went a got a drink... but Ghana is an amazing place... nobody really knows my name, but they all call me "obrony" which is Twi for "white man" so its fun! well, here are some pictures... the one of my arm is the sunburn i got on the first day of being outside.... so that was pretty cool i guess... until next week!

GORDON??

Yeah! im not dead yet, we are just relaxing in the mission home compound... i say compound because the buildings are surrounded by a ten foot concrete wall with a 3 foot electric fence and a full security team up front... its good stuff... we went out and did some proselyting with the AP's this morning, came back and ate pizza hut pizza (which i was more than grateful for, and ate almost 3 full pizzas.) and followed all of that up with interviews with the mission president. tonight we are going to get dinner and follow up with some games! there is another Elder Williams in my area, he is a super funny guy... he is about 5 foot 2 and probably 300 lbs.... but he is the funniest little jamaican guy i have ever met. There is also a missionary in my mission that looks just like Gordon Hayward.... i saw him and freaked out a little bit until i realized it wasnt him ðŸ˜‚😂but my mission president is a super cool guy. he is south african. and he is super cool. he told me to ask you about what you remember about what the stake president said when he set me apart.. well, until next monday.

Love,
Elder Williams

to me
yeah, they wanted us to email everyone and let them know we werent killed while we were in the mtc... and now i am in the mission home where they want us to tell you that we again, are not dead. we had a seminar last night about what to do if you are mugged or shot... and they made an emphasis on how some ghanians hate americans.... so it'll be good! general conference was amazing! we were only able to watch 3 sessions, but i think the theme from one of them was personal revelation... and i dont remember there being a theme for the other one... either way, what were your thoughts?

Last week in MTC

yeah, the bone shards kinda hurt.... i had one stab into my gums whilst chewing and it hurt, but oh well... yeah, the mtc is just 3 weeks... its really just short of that, but its okay... yeah, im ready to go... i think it will be a lot better. we walk across the street to the mission home tomorrow morning at 8 but idk after that.... and we really dont do much scripture study.... its more out of preach my gospel and trying to teach practice lessons with a couple scriptures... my scriptures are all marked up now.... yeah, weve gone to the temple twice so far both of the last days that i emailed you. we havent done any service... we had one day we were supposed to, but nobody knew what we were doing, so instead we all went and played sports... and the walls have like what you would imagine africa to be like, like lions on the savannah and giraffes eating off of trees and things like that... over all its a super cool temple, it is just super small..

The MTC is an amazing place. I have been able to feel the spirit more powerfully than ever before. General Conference/Easter Sunday was amazing and i am beyond blessed to have been able to be in the MTC that day... we were only able to watch the two morning sessions and the priesthood session, but I have learned so much more from those three sessions than i have throughout all of my conference watching.... Russell M. Nelson is a true Prophet of God and i believe that if we abide by his teachings, that we will be blessed. The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church. I hope you all have an amazing week, and i will send more next week. But until then.

Have fun, stay safe, I love you all.
