Emergency transfer, Living in a village, My twin on a mission?

So this week was a... i guess you could say it was an adventure... so on Thursday, my companion (Elder Iheanacho) and i woke up and got ready for just another day.... right in the middle of doing our planning for the day, we got a phone call.... from our Mission President... (to show how big of a deal this was, there are a hundred and eighty something missionaries here in this mission, the mission president is responsible for i think three districts and all of the branches included in those, and he has to deal with the Africa West Area Presidency constantly. So it is kind of a big deal to get a call from him on just a regular day.) Anyways, my companion answered the phone and i went to the kitchen to get a drink, when i came back, Elder Iheanacho just stared at me. I asked him what president wanted, and he told me that i was getting emergency transferred to the bush temporarily. (to put this in perspective, we dont have emergency transfers unless someone is basically dead... and even then, they generally send a senior missionary to wherever the area is.) so that was about 10:30... i was told to pack, and that i would be picked up at 2:30.. that normally wouldnt be a problem... except that we just called and scheduled appointments at 11:30, 12:30, and 1:30... so i packed most of my stuff before our first appointment, cut all three appointments to about 35 minutes, and then rushed over to say goodbye to a couple of our members... and finally rushed back to finish packing... as soon as i threw all of my clothes in my bag and zipped it up, the Office Elders arrived to pick me up, and drop off my replacement.

When they picked me up, my new companion, Elder Black was in the back seat waiting for me. I had heard that i look like a guy named Elder Black and now i was meeting him in person... In my opinion, we look nothing alike. But, everybody else says we look like twins... (i forgot my camera cord, or else i would send pictures) But we went to Burger King on our way to my new area "Akuse". Burger King was amazing... it tasted just like the unhealthy fast food joint back home... that is why it was so good.

We got to Akuse and looked around... most of the houses here are made out of mud... we live in the nicest part of town called VRA it looks like a small retirement village... again, i will send pictures next week.

So just a little recap, I am fine. I have been moved out into the middle of no where... (a little bit further past "no where" than delta is.) but it is a very nice place.... if you have any questions, go ahead and send them to me, i would love to try to answer them...

I hope that you all have a great week and stay safe!

Elder Williams

rain and soccer...

I apologize for being so bad at doing the whole group email thing...

So this week wasnt anything too exciting... we had zone conference on Tuesday and we were able to listen to some of the elders and sisters that are going home soon bear their testimonies. It was really sad because it was Elder Hayes' last zone conference..... he has been a super good apartment mate and excersize buddy so he will be missed... but it was still a lot of fun to get to see a bunch of people from all around...

We had a couple "Rainy Day Schedules" this past week... so we have had to just hang around and clean the apartment... probably a good thing because we have the Mission President coming to inspect our apartment on this up coming Wednesday.

We didnt have any extraordinary things happen to us this past week, but We are going to try and work harder than ever this next week and see if i can gain any cool stories from that...

Today, we had a multi zone activity that involved us going to Ashaiman and playing in a soccer tournament... it was super fun... As a team, we all bought jerseys just so that we could say that we were the best looking team...
We only won 1 game out of 3, but the missionaries here play super dirty, so we had to sit a couple of our best players out... but it was still a lot of fun... especially driving an hour and a half with 17 people in a 14 person van... (16 plus the driver) lets just say that it was a little bit crammed... but it was a fun day nonetheless.

Well, until next week!!

Love,
Elder Williams

Charles' Winegarden's post on Facebook...

This is Samuel and his “office”. He found a Gospel Doctrine book in the trash and read it. He then went to the Distribution Center and bought a Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and a Pearl of Great Price and read them. He started looking for missionaries some time ago and finally found some. The other “broonie” missionary besides us is Elder Williams who was born in Alaska and as a little guy attended the Sterling Ward. Small world. Samuel was taught the Plan of Salvation today and, although an amazing concept to him, he knew it to be true. —

Is it Books of Mormon? or Book of Mormons?

Happy fourth of July everyone! I hope it went well for everyone!! They dont celebrate the 4th here in Ghana, but as an apartment, we had a fancy dinner... we went and bought 20 Goat Kebabs and a 2 liter of Fanta and had a nice relaxing time... but no fireworks or anything like that... it was still fun though

If you notice, the subject is a quote from one of my favorite movies ever... (the best two years) it is a super good movie, i encourage you all to watch it... but that is besides the point..... the reason i ask is because we handed out 113 Book(s) of Mormon(s) this last Saturday. Our Bishop was speaking at a funeral and he wanted us to give them out... so we did...

I also had the "great" idea to buy some sweats here... (it actually is a good idea... it is really nice to just lounge around sweats at night) but the reason that idea failed, is because i forgot that not only do i stick out because i am white, i am also much bigger than the people here in Ghana... so they were wayyyy too short and wayyyyyyy too tight... good thing the guy said i could bring them back and exchange him for someother ones if  i need... but other than that, life is good here in Adenta...
