This month, for our district pet, we found a small hedgehog that we named Doreen!
She was pretty shy, and we tried to teach her some tricks, but we learned that when you are an antisocial hedgehog, you cant really learn much. The same lesson applies to us though too. If we try to avoid everyone and everything new, we cant learn all that much.. maybe we can learn out of a book, but not about life.
We also have had quite a few testimony strengthening stories, one of which, was yesterday.. We went to go teach a woman we have been trying to meet with for a while. She is the aunt of the first counselor in our branch first presidency. So we finally got a chance to sit down with her. She told us that recently she has been having some problems with knowing that God loves her. So we did an object lesson where we showed her a clean 50 cedi note (the biggest bill in the Ghanaian currency) and asked if she wanted it. Of course she wanted it. So then we took it up and crumpled it up in our hands, opened it up, and asked her again. Again, she wanted it. Then we took it, threw it on the ground, stepped on it, made sure it was jsut dirty and gross, then offered it to her, again, she still wanted it. So we explained that that is how we are with God. No matter what we look like, what we have done, that God still loves us and wants us to come back to him. It was an awesome lesson!
