bones, basketball, running.... week 2

it has started being more fun.. the first week and a half is just sitting in a classroom cramming... but weve loosened up now, so we mostly just make a bunch of jokes and mess around... but there is some learning still involved... but i am starting to get used to the food, we had fufu and goat soup the other day and that was fun (not) ... i started trying to eat it and i started gagging .... good thing i brought a bunch of candy bars from the U.S. ðŸ˜‚ other than that it has been good... we do eat a lot of fish and i usually give that away, but my companion has started making me more grateful for what i have, so now i have to eat the chicken bones after i eat all of the meat and skin off of it😂😂 but i really am starting to enjoy this place... i leave here on tuesday, and the mtc p-day is friday... so i dont know if i will be able to email next week... but i will be out in the field doing the work of the Lord so it will be okay.

weve been to the temple twice now, (the mornings of our P-days) it is one of the smallest temples but it is still super beautiful, it is more wild african themed so it looks really cool on the inside... but i have tried to make an effort to read my patriarchal blessing every time i go (just out in the lobby while waiting for people) and i am starting to recognize the little things the Lord has done to bless me so far in it... but yeah, ghana is crazy and i will try to send pictures really soon.

Ghana is an amazing place. The MTC here is only about 4 months old i think is what they said... so we have a beautiful compound. The food takes some time to adjust to, but i am starting to like it... as long as you are willing to eat about a pound of rice everyday for lunch and dinner, its pretty good stuff... it generally has some chicken or fish on it so it has a little bit of flavor. The only problem is this is Africa... so i have learned how to eat the bones and not complain too much.
I am one of 10 american missionaries in the MTC... that is 10 americans compared to the other 240 missionaries here that are native africans... so saying that i stick out is an understatement. I am also 185 centimeters tall... (i have no clue what that means, but that is what i was told when i got here) most of the elders here are short... like between 5' 3" and 5' 8" so i am the 6th tallest person here... 4 of the people taller than me are American and 3 of them played college basketball... so its fun to play basketball... I've learned a lot and now i can hold my own against them...

I am also known as one of the fastest Elders in the MTC... even though everybody here is short, they are mostly skinny and really muscular. A couple have tried to race me now and we run out on the little track out back and for the first 300 meters, they are about 2 strides ahead. The last 100meters though is a different story... I have ended up winning 4 out of 5 races.. the one I lost was against a guy that is considered the fastest and most athletic person.

The MTC is the best! They have a giant MTC choir that is amazing and they have been trying to get me to conduct it... i am really starting to enjoy my mission. anyways, i'll email again next week. I love you all.
